3 Kentucky officers killed, several hurt by gunman who opened fire at his home

A few Kentucky law enforcement officers had been shot and killed just after a 49-yr-old guy, who is in custody, allegedly gunned them down and wounded several other people in a mass capturing at his Kentucky home.

The City of Prestonburg Law enforcement Section shared in a Fb article Friday that canine handler Jacob R. Chaffins had died.

“You have devoted your small time on this earth to the assistance of the citizens of Prestonsburg and the Commonwealth as an EMT, Fireplace Fighter, and Police Officer. You further devoted on your own to the stability of our place as a valiant soldier,” the statement go through.

“The lives you’ve saved given that you even started off policing are innumerable, and that is how you gave your life – saving a further. We will glow your light to Paisley and the world so extended as we breathe.Rest you, we have the observe.”

The two other slain officers have been recognized by the sheriff’s business office as Deputy William Petry and Prestonsburg Police Capt. Ralph Frasure.

The capturing unfolded in Floyd County at about 6:44 p.m. community time Thursday, Kentucky State Law enforcement claimed. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear identified as it a “barricade condition.”

In accordance to an arrest report, Lance Storz, who was armed with a rifle, fired a number of rounds at law enforcement officers close to his dwelling, killing two officers and a police K9.

The arrest report mentioned 5 other officers and an emergency administration director have been wounded, however condition law enforcement stated four officers and a person civilian were hurt.

“Floyd County and our courageous initially responders endured a tragic decline very last night,” the governor tweeted Friday. “I want to request all of Kentucky to be a part of me in praying for this community. This is a tough early morning for our commonwealth.”

Storz is in custody on numerous costs like murder of a law enforcement officer and tried murder of a law enforcement officer. He entered a plea of not guilty and is being held on $10 million bond. Storz returns to courtroom on July 11.
